Assistantships and Financial Aid
Graduate research assistantships are available through the Department. The M.S. research assistantship stipends are $1,250 per month for 2 years for thesis students. Excellent students can receive higher stipends. In addition to the stipend, both in- and out-of-state tuition and health insurance are paid by the Department. More information can be found at Student Health Service website.
Assistantship holders devote 20 hours (half time) per week to Departmental research or teaching. Assistantships are awarded on a competitive basis. Although assistantships can be awarded anytime, for the greatest chance of acceptance, apply at least 6 months before enrollment.
Workships are also offered depending on Department needs. Payment is on an hourly basis. Students may work up to 20 hours per week on a workship program. In addition, scholarships and financial aid are available (Visit the Financial Aid Office site)
