Cost analysis of farm machinery and implements has been greatly simplified with Machinery Cost Calculator. Producers now have a sophisticated, yet user-friendly tool to estimate costs of owning and operating farm machinery and equipment. Costs of machinery can be estimated on a per hour of use and per acre farmed basis.

Commonly used tractors; combines; and harvesting, planting, and tillage implements are listed in easy access drop-down menus and provide a starting point for quick analysis. Information about each of the machines can be modified to more closely match each situation. The machine and implement databases also can be expanded to included new equipment. Features of Machinery Cost Calculator:

  • Windows operated drop down menus
  • Context sensitive on-line help
  • User's guide
  • Database of common tractors, combines, implements, and other equipment
  • American Society of Agricultural Engineers (ASAE) standards used to calculate cost estimates
  • Projects costs and machinery values over a five-year period
Reports generated by Machinery Cost Calculator:
  • Estimated machinery cost report
  • Five-year projected machinery cost analysis report
  • Input and parameter report
  • Sensitivity analysis shows the change in cost due to changes in hours of use
Graphs generated by Machinery Cost Calculator:
  • Estimated machinery market values
  • Annual repair costs
  • Total Costs per hour and per acre
  • Sensitivity analysis: Hours of use
  • Sensitivity analysis: Acres farmed
