AgEcon Announces Winners of 2008 Discussion Meet

The Annual Collegiate Discussion Meet was held on Wednesday, March 5th, in Morgan Hall.  Congratulations to:  Jessica Jerrell- 1st place, Leann Little- 2nd place, Aaron Crowgey- 3rd place, and Bryan Beason 4th place.

The Tennessee Farm Bureau sponsors the event and is hosted by Department of Agricultural Economics and the Ag Business Club.  Students from all undergraduate majors in the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources were eligible for the competition.  Cash awards are given to winning participants with $800 for 1st place, $500 for 2nd place, $350 for 3rd place and $250 for 4th place.  The first place winner will compete in the state finals with winners from Tennessee State, Tennessee Tech, Middle Tennessee State, and UT Martin on July 19at the Young Farmers & Ranchers Annual Conference in Columbia, Tennessee.

Moderator for the Discussion Meet was Mr. Eddie Clark from Farm Bureau. Judges were Dr. Dan McLemore, Professor in Agricultural Economics, Mr. Bobby Beets, and Ms. Carla Cullip.  Mr. Beets and Ms. Cullip were representing the Farm Bureau.

Drs. Jim Larson and Ernie Bazen coordinators of the annual event wants to thank all who participated in this year’s Discussion Meet.  The Discussion Meet is held every year during the Spring Semester.
